Circle Mirror Transformation

The play by Annie Baker is a subtle, quiet and unassumingly profound glimpse into a world that is both accessible and funny while also being intelligent and moving. Much of Circle Mirror Transformation takes place over the course of a six-week creative drama class in a fictional town in Vermont. The students in the acting class participate in common theatre games that on the surface appear to be somewhat wacky.

The seemingly simple premise makes the brilliance of the performance even more poignant. The audience sees the characters interact in ways that everyday conversation cannot show us. The subtle looks and cues and anonymous notes reveal each person’s character as the relationships unfold.

Show times are Oct. 6-7 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, contact theatre@grayson.edu or 903-463-8609.
